The Heartbeat Educator was created for the teachers, leaders, coaches, and school communities who are carrying more than anyone can see — and who still believe that connection, belonging, regulation, and hope matter.
This work is rooted in a simple truth:
Safe, regulated, and connected classrooms begin with safe, regulated, and connected adults.
Meet Dr. Kimberly Honnick
Dr. Kimberly Honnick is the Founder and Chief Vision Officer of Bo Knowz Learning, where she helps educators and leaders create safe, connected, and emotionally steady school communities rooted in dignity, purpose, and heart.
With more than three decades in education, Kim has served as a teacher, school leader, district administrator, consultant, speaker, and advocate for human-centered schools. Her work has always centered on one essential question:
How do we create learning environments where both students and adults can feel safe enough to grow?
Throughout her career, Kim has worked alongside educators, families, leaders, and school communities navigating the real and complex work of teaching and learning. She understands the emotional labor of education, the pressure leaders carry, the invisible weight teachers hold, and the deep responsibility of building cultures where people feel seen, supported, and capable.
The Heartbeat Educator grew from that lived experience.
It is a love letter to educators, a practical guide for classrooms, and a movement toward schools that are more safe, regulated, connected, and human.
Why The Heartbeat Educator?
Education feels heavy right now.
Students are carrying more.
Teachers are carrying more.
Leaders are carrying more.
Across schools, adults are being asked to manage behavior, support emotional needs, deliver instruction, meet expectations, and keep going — often without enough time, support, or space to breathe.
Kim wrote The Heartbeat Educator because educators do not need one more reminder to care.
They need language, tools, reflection, and support that help them care in ways that are sustainable.

Bo Knowz Learning is named in honor of Balboa — lovingly known as Bo.
Bo is more than a beloved dog and brand mascot. He represents many of the qualities at the heart of this work: loyalty, presence, steadiness, trust, comfort, and unconditional love.
Anyone who has loved a dog knows this truth:
Sometimes the most powerful support does not come through words.
It comes through presence.
Bo’s presence is woven into the spirit of Bo Knowz Learning as a reminder that connection does not have to be complicated to be meaningful. Sometimes, steadiness begins with simply being near someone who helps you feel safe.
